What is gel nail polish?
To get a little techy – gel polish is made up of acrylic monomers and oligomers (stick with us) that bond together when placed under UV light. This is known as curing and sets the liquid gel hard in a matter of seconds, leaving long-lasting results.
Gel vs. ordinary polish
Gel polish is far more durable than ordinary polish, giving you up to 3 weeks of salon quality, chip-free and glossy nails. Gel is also thicker than polish which allows for a smoother application.
Ordinary nail polish meanwhile, only lasts for up to 7 days and can take up to 2 hours to dry properly without a risk of denting.
How to apply gel polish
1. Prep: Wash and dry your hands, then use a cuticle pusher to gently push back cuticles and remove any dead or excess skin. Use a file to shape your nails before removing the shine from your nail plate, with our buffing block. Swipe a lint-free wipe soaked in Mylee Prep & Wipe to finish your prep step.
2. Apply: Use MyGel Base Coat and cure nails (30 - 60 seconds with LED Lamp or 120 seconds with UV), make sure you remove any gel which could be touching your skin before curing. Apply one coat of your favourite MyGel colour, and cure nails for 30 - 60 seconds using the LED Lamp (120 seconds with UV). Build your colour up by repeating this step with your colour.
3. Finish: Apply MyGel Top Coat and cure nails (30 - 60 seconds with LED Lamp or 120 seconds with UV). Remove the top sticky layer with a lint free wipe soaked in Mylee Prep & Wipe before applying Mylee Nail & Cuticle oil to finish your look.
Removal is easy with Mylee
1. Buff the surface of the nails with a nail file to remove the shine of the top coat. This must be done firmly as the surface needs to be opened up to allow you to penetrate the UV lacquer, but be careful not to damage the nail underneath.
2. Soak a cotton pad with Mylee Gel Remover and place onto the nail plate, securing with Mylee Soak Off Clips. Now relax for 15 minutes. Or, use a generous layer of Mylee’s Magic Gel Remover, leaving on for 6 minutes, instead. Mylee works both ways.
3. Lift the pads off the nails, before gently pushing away any loose product with a cuticle pusher. If there is any product remaining on the nail, re-buff and re-wrap.
4. Once all the product is removed, file and shape the free edge using a nail file then buff the nail to a shine.
What is Builder Gel?
A bit of a miracle really. Builder Gel will help sculpt the dream nails, achieving thickness, strength and up to 1cm of length. It can be used on natural nails, as a protective top coat, to create extensions or secure jewels and decals.
What is Magic Extender Gel?
Magic Extender Gel is a nail enhancement formula that creates gorgeous lightweight nail extensions or can be used as a protective overlay on natural nails. It comes as a thick gel formula inside a handy tube. It’s stronger and more durable than traditional gel polish and is a whole lot lighter than sculpting heavy acrylic nails.
Magic Extender Gel manis can last up to three to four weeks and generally longer than traditional gels.
