How To Nail Art Brushes

How to Use Nail Art Brushes

Whether you're painting dainty little flowers, getting stripy with it, or creating classic French tips, nail art brushes will help you unlock your inner nail artiste.

For any of these brushes, you can dip the brush directly into a gel polish colour or dot some polish onto a mixing palate and pick up the polish with the brush that way.

Then, apply the polish to your nails using small strokes and taking care to not overload the brush.

What is Each Nail Art Brush For?

There are lots of different kinds of bristle thicknesses and densities that produce different finishes, so picking the right one for your desired nail art is key.

Here's a rundown of the different types of nail art brushes:

112mm Ultra Fine Brush – The brush hairs are ultra slim, which are great for creating stripes, checks, and filling in gaps in designs (like the petals of flowers).

9mm Fine Brush – The medium-length bristles are good for both small details and wide strokes, making it one of the most versatile nail art brushes. Use it for geometric patterns, swirls, and intricate designs.

7mm Ultra Fine Brush – The 7mm brush has ultra slim bristles like the 12mm, but are shorter. While it's perfect for any type of nail art, it's especially great for creating smile lines and French tips.

5mm Ultra Fine Brush – This is our shortest and finest nail art brush, which is excellent for the most intricate of nail art designs. Swirls, micro French tips, and tiny flowers are just a few examples of what you can create with this brush.

Oval Brush – An oval brush is great for all-over colour and smile lines. It buddies up greatly with our Créme CaraGels, too!

Angled Brush – An angled brush is good for creating angled and diagonal lines, as well as cleaning up mistakes with a bit of Prep & Wipe.

Ombre Brush – The ombre brush is a must for creating ombre designs. Apply your chosen gel polish colour and use the ombre brush to swipe and blend the gel polish up your nails, creating a seamless gradient effect.

FAQs

We'd recommend a 7mm or 5mm for French tips.

Our Fix 'N' Flash Tips are great for practising nail art on! You can paint the designs onto the soft gel tips before applying them to your nails – that way, if you make a mistake, the nails won't be adhered onto your actual nails.

You can, but gel polish provides a much more precise and long-lasting result. It's also much easier to layer designs and colours with gel polish as a result of curing. With regular gel polish, you won't get the same result, or the wet polishes could smudge together.

Our Brush It Off nail brush cleaner is the quickest and easiest way to clean your nail art brushes. Drop a little of the solution on a Lint-Free Wipe and swirl the bristles until they're clean.
