Glazed donut nails were seen on Hailey Bieber at the MET Gala back in 2022, and they're still proving to be one of the most popular nail trends to date.

With the theme being 'Gilded Glamour', her nail artist, Zola Ganzorigt, understood the assignment perfectly.

This mani adds a sheer and pearlescent glow to your nails with a touch of natural nude colour – almost as if your nails have actually been glazed with sugar or frosting.

It's no surprise to us that these nails became an instant social media trend and one of the most popular nail looks of the year, considering the entire beauty industry has been all about embracing glowy and dewy natural beauty.

How to Achieve Glazed Donut Nails

Unfortunately, we don't all have a professional celebrity nail artist on the other end of the phone when we're in need of a new set of nails.

But luckily for you (and us!) glazed donut nails are easy enough to achieve at home and all it really takes are a few nail products!

Light Pink Gel Nails

Step-by-Step Guide to Glazed Donut Nails

Step 1

As with any manicure, you should first apply a base coat to your nails (after the usual nail prepping routine) to help the colour gel polish adhere better so that you can savour these sweet glazed nails for as long as possible.

Apply one layer and cure underneath a UV lamp (for 120 seconds) or a LED lamp (for 60 seconds).

Step 2

Next on the menu: your base colour!

Once your base coat is cured, you will need to choose and apply your neutral base colour.

Hailey Bieber’s glazed donut nails were achieved using a sheer milky pink shade, almost identical to our Strawberry Milkshake Gel Polish, but you could totally opt for a different base depending on your preference for nail colour.

Go for a sheer white, like Ghosting Gel Polish, if you want a more pearly look overall, or choose a pale nude for a more natural and subtle look (Cream On Top is the perfect creamy nude polish for this).

Once you've applied your neutral base colour of choice, make sure to cure the coat with a UV or LED lamp.

Step 3

Now you've got your base colour laid down, it's time to start working on that oh-so-sweet glaze!

Hailey Bieber debuted her updated nail look on TikTok, and (unsurprisingly) once again gripped everyone's attention.

This version of the glazed donut nails sports a rich, creamy brown in replacement of the nude base colour but still keeps the iconic pearlescent shine. It's so simple, yet so delicious!

How to Do Chocolate Glazed Nails

To achieve this look at home, simply swap out the base shade you would use to create the original glazed donut nails for a creamy brown shade instead. We recommend using our new Choco-latte Gel Polish.
