Tips & Tricks

Whether you're building length, adding strength, or trying something new, Magic Extender Gel is the go-to for easy, long-lasting nail extensions. Here’s how to get it right - every time.

Prep is everything

  • Start strong. Thoroughly prep your nails before applying Magic Extender Gel to help it grip and stay put. Push back cuticles, buff the surface and cleanse - no shortcuts here.

Don’t overdo the Slip Solution

  • Too much Slip Solution can make the gel harder to control. Dip your brush lightly and blot off any excess on a paper towel before you start shaping.

Take your time

  • No need to rush - Magic Extender Gel doesn’t start curing until it’s under the lamp. That means you can perfect your shape and smoothness before committing. Ideal for beginners or perfectionists (or both).

Go nail by nail

  • If you’re new to Magic Extender Gel, try working one nail at a time. It’s easier to learn the technique and you'll get better with each go. Practice makes perfect.

Sizing your dual forms

  • Choose dual forms that are slightly wider than your natural nail. If it’s too small, it won’t cover the edges properly - and that’s a recipe for lifting.

Store your tools

  • Dual forms are reusable, so don’t toss them after one use. Keep them safe and clean for your next mani moment.

Use the right amount

  • Too little gel? Your nails will be thin and breakable. Too much? It’ll ooze out the sides. If you get overflow, use your brush and a little Slip Solution to clean up before curing.

Sticky after curing?

  • If the surface still feels tacky after curing, pop it back under the lamp for a little longer. Magic Extender Gel should feel set and smooth once fully cured.

Build your apex

  • When extending your nails, you’ll need a strong apex - a gentle bump over the centre of the nail. This adds strength and balance, so there’s less pressure on the tips during everyday tasks (like typing, lifting, or washing up).

Use it your way

  • You can apply Magic Extender Gel with paper forms or dual forms - whichever suits your style. Or, use it as a strengthening overlay on natural nails for added durability and a salon-smooth finish.

When it’s time to remove

  • Gently file down the bulk of the product using a grit nail file, leaving a thin layer to protect the natural nail. Soak cotton pads with Mylee Gel Remover, wrap with foil, and wait 15 minutes. Then use a cuticle pusher or Gel Scraper Tool to remove any loosened gel. Finish with hand cream and cuticle oil to rehydrate.
