How do I prep my nails for gel polish?
To begin your nail prep, use a Cuticle Pusher to push your cuticles back, and apply the Mylee Cuticle Remover to remove any dead skin if needed. Next, use a Crystal Nail File to shape the free edge of your nails and remove the shine from the nail plate with a Buffer Sanding Block.
Sweep away any dust and cleanse the nails with a Lint-Free Wipe soaked in Prep & Wipe, then apply Nail Prep Dehydrator. Apply a layer of Mylee Base Coat and cure your nails for 30-60 seconds using the Mylee LED Lamp.
How do I apply gel nail polish perfectly?
After following proper nail prep, apply a Base Coat to your nails and cure underneath the Mylee Pro LED Lamp for 30-60 seconds. Then, apply your chosen Mylee Gel Polish shade, curing underneath the lamp again. Apply 2-3 coats for an opaque finish, ensuring you cure between each application.
To finish, apply a layer of Top Coat and cure under the lamp once again. If using a normal Top Coat, you need to wipe away the tacky layer. If not, you're good to go. But always wash your hands after curing your top coat. Use Cuticle and Nail Oil to hydrate and nourish your nails.
Can I use gel nail polish on natural nails?
Yes, gel polish is designed to be used on natural nails. It can also be used on nail extensions, like soft gel tips, Builder Gel, Magic Extender Gel and acrylic nails.
How long does gel nail polish last?
If you’ve followed proper prep and application, your gel mani should last up to 3 weeks or longer. After this time, you’ll likely experience nail growth, so you’ll either need to remove or infill your nails to account for this growth.
How long does gel polish take to dry?
This will depend on the nail lamp you’re using. The Pro Salon Series Convex LED Lamp flash cures gel polish in 15 seconds and fully cures a coat of gel polish in 30 to 60 seconds (depending on the thickness of the polish). Other LED lamps may have different times. We always recommend curing your gel polish with a Mylee Lamp to ensure your gel polish is properly cured.

UV nail lamps take longer to cure polish – 120 seconds to cure a full coat.
Why is my gel nail polish peeling and chipping?
Gel polish peeling or chipping might be the result of incorrectly curing your polish. If you’re applying thick layers of polish, make sure you’re curing your nails for long enough so the polish completely hardens. You should also cap the free edges of your nails when applying the polish, which can help to prevent peeling.
Incorrect prep of the nails can also cause peeling and chipping. Make sure you spend time on your prep and don't get any gel polish on the skin – if you do, remove before curing.
Why does my gel nail polish burn and feel hot under the lamp?
When your gel polish is curing under the lamp, it releases heat. Some people with thinner nail plates can be more sensitive to this heat. Also, the thicker you apply your polish, the more heat it can generate. As Builder Gel is a thicker product, many do feel more heat spikes when applying this thickly.
If it is getting too hot for you, simply remove your hands from the lamp for a few seconds to cool, then slowly pop your hand back in.
